Doreen Nancy (Johnston) Neven

Doreen Nancy Neven (née Johnston) passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Rimbey Hospital in Rimbey, Alberta, with her loving family by her side.

Doreen was born on July 20, 1931, in Copper Cliff, Ontario, to her parents Hugh and Ellen Johnston.

She will be remembered for her strength and resilience throughout her life, her quick wit, and her love of word games—especially Word Searches. Even in her later years, Doreen remained sharp-minded and continued to share advice and wisdom with her children. She kept up with her favorite sports, particularly hockey and baseball, and spent a period of her life working as a home worker support aid.

Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her son, Gary (Tracy) Neven, daughter Linda (Vern) Olson; her grandchildren, Tanya (Brian), Mark (Maja), Ross (Charmaine), Curtis, Darren, and Kyle (Tajana); her great-grandchildren, Connor, Mason, Hannah, Jace, Kiara, Austin, Kail, Vera, and Daylynn; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Hendrix. She is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Red Deer Regional Hospital and Rimbey Hospital for their care and compassion.

Doreen will be returning to Ontario, where she will be laid to rest.
