Dorothy Niven

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Niven announce her passing on July 8, 2023 at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre. 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert Nicholls, Jay Nicholls and Lynda Nicholls (Kerry Jay), her grandson Nicholas Jay (Lisa Bell) and her great-grandson Mason Jay as well as numerous extended family and an abundance of friends.

Dorothy is predeceased by her beloved brother Jack Niven.

Dorothy loved entertaining her family and friends with grand style and fabulous food. Whether it be a large holiday celebration, quirky afternoon tea or just everyday dinner, she was an excellent cook and hostess. Dorothy was a skilled seamstress and craft maker often gifting these cherished items to friends and family. 

Dorothy was known for her quick wit and sense of humour which was still evident during her stay at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre. She would like to thank the staff of the hospital for their kind and caring thoughtfulness as she battled with her dementia and in her final days.

There will be no funeral in accordance with Dorothy's wishes.
