Eleanor May Louise Howard

May 14, 1956 – September 6, 2023

It is with great sadness the family of Eleanor May Louise Howard wishes to announce her passing at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on September 6, 2023.

Eleanor or Ellie as she was known to her family and friends was born on May 14, 1956 in Innisfail, Alberta.  She was raised on the family farm east of Innisfail and attended school in Innisfail. 

Ellie managed two ladies clothing stores in Red Deer prior to earning her computer programming degree.  Ellie worked as a computer programmer while raising her son.  She was a strong, independent woman.  She wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything.  Eleanor was a fierce “Mama Bear”.  She played the role of both mother and father in a time when it was not that common.  Despite the struggle she provided a loving and warm home for her son.  With a hard work ethic, she always did her best to provide a better life for her and her family.

Ellie enjoyed camping and relaxing around a campfire.  She loved being in the yard and working hands in the garden.  She was often seen on the lawnmower with goggles on and beer in hand.  Ellie was no stranger to a party either.  She enjoyed hosting and joining any small or large event; normally becoming the life of the party.

Ellie and Arnold were married August 22, 2009.

Eleanor is survived by her spouse, Arnold Law; her son, Todd Howard; canine companion Rylee; stepchildren, Greg (Cheryl), Brenda (Kyle); granddaughters, Shaelynn and Ashley (whom she both adored); brothers Bob and Will; sister Esther as well as many extended family and friends.

Eleanor was predeceased by her mother Beverley (Parr) Howard; her father John Howard; brother Tyron Howard and her sister-in-law Janet Howard.

Special thanks to the staff at the Lacombe Hospital (Extended Care) for their kind and caring thoughtfulness as she battled with her dementia and especially her final days.
