Elizabeth "Betty" May (Kemp) Belford Obituary

With much sadness the family of Elizabeth "Betty" May Belford (nee Kemp) writes to announce that Betty passed away after a brief, but courageous battle peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Betty is survived by her children Shannon, Julie (Russ), Angella, Michael, and James (Allie), 9 grandchildren, Alicia, Victoria, Robin, Jocelyn, Emily, Tomi-Lee, Jesse, Michael Owen, and Ava; seven great-grandchildren; twin brother David Kemp; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Norman Belford; her parents William and Myrtle Kemp; brothers Edward, Clarence, and Robert.

Betty was born at home in Summerville, Ontario in the fall of 1943, born first of fraternal twins. In 1980 Betty and Norman settled in Lacombe Alberta where they immersed themselves into the community. Betty’s pride and joy was her garden and it grew bigger every year. She also loved to bake and make crafts with her grandchildren. Betty is remembered by the people she touched as a sweet, kind woman with a beautiful soul.

A short, graveside ceremony will be in the summer of 2026 at Fairview Cemetery.

Special thanks to hospital staff of both Red Deer Hospital and Lacombe Community Hospital and Care. We’d like to make special mention of the professional and courteous care from EMS of Red Deer and Lacombe. Thank you.

Memorial donations can be made directly to any pet rescue or shelter.
