Ellen Sofia (Gustafson) Grose

It is with deep sorrow, the family of Ellen Grose (Gustafson) mourns her passing at 100 years of age, on October 17, 2020.

Ellen was born September 3, 1920, in Lacombe. Her family lived in Gull Lake in the Lincoln District for 15 years, prior to moving to Westerose, near Pigeon Lake. Married in 1942, she and her husband Leslie spent 32 years farming on the original Grose homestead in Clive. In 1974, they retired to Lacombe. Ellen was very active in the Clive Baptist Church and has always remained strong in her faith and love for her Lord and Saviour. She was librarian at the Clive School for 23 years. Her community involvement was extensive, including at the Clive Curling Club for 15 years, the 4-H Sewing Club for 15 years, and the Lacombe Garden Club for 12 years. Gardening and love for her flowers was her absolute passion. Her values and work ethics have been an inspiration to many.  A verse from the Bible that she lived by is found in Philippians 4:11, 'for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content'.

Ellen was predeceased by her husband Leslie of 61 years (2003); son-in-law Ray, (2013) and her 8 siblings.

She is survived by her children, Yvonne, Kerry (Lesley), Linda (Gord), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family is forever grateful for the care and support, given at Northcott Care Center, Ponoka.

A Private Graveside Service was held for Ellen on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Fairview Cemetery in Lacombe, Alberta.
