Elsie Irene (Norish) Healing

Mrs. Elsie Irene Healing (Norish) of Lacombe passed away on February 3, 2020 at the palliative care unit of the Lacombe Hospital at the age of 101 years. Elsie was born April 20, 1918, at Gadsby, Alberta, the third daughter of Thomas and Lydia Norish.

The family moved to Stettler, Alberta in 1919 and lived there until 1931, when they moved to Lacombe, Alberta. In 1932, they moved to the Milton District to a farm 1 mile east of Milton School.

On March 23, 1939, Elsie was married to Richard C. Healing and moved to the farm where she resided until 2003. Her two children, Robert Richard and Elizabeth Anne, were born there.

She leaves behind to mourn her son Robert (Phyllis) Healing of Lacombe, her daughter Elizabeth (Jerry) McMillen of Ponoka,  grandsons Roger, Brian (Kathy), Chris (Jenny), granddaughters Debra (Mazin), Brenda (Korey), great-grandsons Travis (Jolene), Kyle, Jacob, Joseph, great- granddaughters Cassandra (Jamie), Katie, Kesaly, Brynn, Jhazmyne, step great-grandchildren Nathan and Trishcia, great-great-granddaughter Sydne, nieces and nephews.

Elsie was predeceased by her father in 1942, her mother in 1946, her sister Mary Frizzell in 1984, husband Richard in 1993, sister Lillian Taylor 2009 and brother William Norish in 2019.

Her favorite hobbies were she loved children, growing flowers, animals, cooking, house plants, crocheting and knitting. She donated at least 20 baby outfits a year to the Lacombe Auxiliary at the Hospital (Tuck Shop). Elsie was a member of the Morningside Good Cheer Club and of the Crown Local FWUA, often being either the President or Secretary. Elsie was a dedicated singer for Senior Sunshine Choir. She also contributed community news to the Lacombe Globe on behalf of the Milton area.

Public Visitation will take place at Wilson's Funeral Chapel February 10th, 2020 at 12:00 Noon. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 10th, 2020, at 1:00 PM with interment to take place following the service at the Fairview Cemetery.
