Evert Weenink Sr. of Blackfalds, Alberta, passed away peacefully at Villa Marie Care Home on April 3, 2025, at the age of 88.
Evert, affectionately known as Hardy, is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Anne. He will be deeply missed by his children: Alan (Collette), Linda (Sam), Erwin (Kristina), and Evert (Deborah); his grandchildren: Matthew, Lindsay, Dillon, Jayden, Erika, Evan, and Avery (Caleb); and his great-grandchildren: Boaz and Evelyn.
Evert and Anne spent their lives in the Blackfalds area, where they operated a successful dairy and grain farm. Upon retirement, they moved to an acreage near Burbank, where Anne continued her passion for gardening and beautifying their property. Evert remained active in the community, planting trees throughout Central Alberta and pursuing his love of woodworking and furniture making. His many hobbies and interests brought him joy throughout his life.
Evert and Anne also shared a passion for travel, exploring much of Canada and the United States. They especially treasured their annual trips to Texas to visit their daughter and her family, where many cherished memories were made.
A Public Viewing will be held at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel in Lacombe on Wednesday, April 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A Private Family Burial will take place on Thursday, April 10, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. at the Woody Nook Christian Reformed Church.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Villa Marie Care Centre for the compassionate care they provided to Evert over the past three and a half years.
