Freda Ann (Thalen) Haan

Freda loved to laugh. She found joy in the everyday and had a quiet way of making people feel seen and cared for. 

On May 5, 2026, Freda went home to be with her Lord at the age of 68.

Her love for her family was evident in the way she lived. She loved to help in her own way and cherished time with her grandchildren—cheering them on at sporting events and spoiling them with their favourite snacks and creating lasting memories of her presence in their lives.

Freda was married to the love of her life, Dan, for 26 years before his passing in 2003. She carried that love forward and continued her life with a strength and faith that guided her to care for others, and focus on what truly mattered. 

She had a remarkable gift for creating beauty – whether in a home, a space, or the small details of daily life. She took pride in how she lived and showed up in the world, always polished and intentional.

Freda was predeceased by her husband, Dan; her parents; her sister; her brother; and her grandson.

She will be remembered by her five children and their spouses, her 20 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sisters, brother and her extended family, friends and neighbours—all of whom she dearly loved.

A Public Visitation will be held on Friday May 08, 2026 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Wilson's Funeral Chapel in Lacombe, Alberta.

A Service for Freda Haan will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sonrise Christian Reformed Church in Ponoka County, Alberta. With Rev. James Folkerts Officiating.
