Fredrick Johannson Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Johannson of Sylvan Lake announce that he passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on May 22nd, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Lavilla, children Heith Johannson (Sandra) of Lacombe and Bette Ferguson (Leroy) of Sylvan Lake,.  He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Krysta Goodkey (Darren) of Forestburg, Shayla Johannson (Jon Barry) of Lacombe, Taylor Ferguson of Sylvan Lake and Christopher Ferguson of Sylvan Lake.  Fred also leaves to mourn 3 great grandchildren, Maddi and Brady Barry and Karson Goodkey along with his sisters Bernice Anderson (Fred) of Markerville and Shirley Dye of Red Deer along with numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of great friends.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Joe and Lily Johannson, brother Les Johannson and infant daughter Kluane Johannson.

Fred and Lavilla farmed in the Markerville area for many years before getting out of farming and entering the insurance business. They purchased Elliot Agencies in Sylvan Lake which they ran until they retired.  Fred was a dedicated community member spending countless hours for various causes especially the Lions Clubs in both Spruce View and Sylvan Lake.  Fred was a common spectator at activities where his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were participants.

Special thanks to the medical staff at RDRHC for the excellent care that was provided to Fred over the last couple months.
