On February 28, 2025 George Gaudin passed away peacefully on the palliative care unit at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. He was 90 years old.
George was born in Mirror Alberta on November 12, 1934. His goal was to live to be 100. As such, he lived independently until three weeks before his death. Although difficult, he graciously accepted his fate saying, just days before passing, “We can’t be here forever.” He succumbed to the progress of metastatic cancer.
George was soft-spoken, kind, honest and hard-working. He got his first calf when he was eight years old and continued to raise cattle until he sold his last one in November of 2024. He loved his farms and his favourite time of year was Spring when the calves were running, jumping and growing. He was also a carpenter, a downhill skier, a loving son and uncle and a devoted husband.
He is predeceased by his parents Lorne and Jean (Ennis) Gaudin, two brothers Donald and Robert, one sister Margaret and his first and second wives, Dorothy and Katie.
He leaves behind many nephews and nieces who respected him highly, some very good neighbours and loyal friends.
He will be remembered for his all-around good nature, his youthfulness, his nice trucks and his amazing lemon meringue pies!
We invite you to join us in honouring and celebrating the life of our beloved George.
A funeral and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew’s United Church (5226 51 Avenue), Lacombe, Alberta.
Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the church hall. Immediately after the lunch, a burial will take place at the Mirror Cemetery.
A simple coffee and pie reception will also be held at the Mirror Jolly Seniors Social Club following the final resting at the cemetery.
