Geraldine McIntyre Obituary

The family of Geraldine “Honey” McIntyre announce with heavy hearts her passing on April 16, 2022, at the age of 90 years. She passed away in her home with her daughter by her bedside.

Honey was born in Edmonton on July 26, 1931 and received her nickname from the nurses being the only girl born that day at the Misericordia Hospital. She was the youngest of three girls and grew up on a farm in the Leduc area. She shared vivid memories of her chores on the farm which included helping her Dad with thrashing. At only 12 years old Mom was driving the tractor hauling the grain to storage. Life in the country was filled with barn dances and jam sessions and her love of music remained throughout her life.

She met Charles McIntyre in 1950 in Rimbey and they were married in 1952. What a mix that Scottish and German descent was!! They got along about four times in their 58 year marriage having four children: David (Barb), Cam, Susan, and Lynn. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Tamara, Levi, Brittany, James, Kim, Ryan, and nine great grandchildren.

After raising their family and retiring, she and Chuck enjoyed time wintering in Mexico then Arizona. Honey had a passion for music, travel, dancing, shopping, photography (as evidenced by her headstone) and celebrations of any kind.

Special thanks to Dr Tarukandirwa at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre in Red Deer who worked his magic with immunotherapy to help her achieve her goal of not only making it to her 90th birthday party but being absolutely glowing!! It would be her last celebration with family and friends.

As per Mom’s request, family and friends will gather at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Hwy 2A, Lacombe, and process to Fairview Cemetery for a Graveside Service on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in honour of Geraldine may be directed to the "Sally Ann" (The Salvation Army) at salvationarmy.ca or to The War Amps at waramps.ca, two charities which were dear to Geraldine.

The only thing bigger than the loss we feel today is the love we will always feel.

As Mom would say “My cane rests”.
