Mr. Gordon Render of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24th at the age of 82 years.
Gordon was born in Neepawa, Manitoba and grew up in the Riding Mountain area. At age 17 he was hired by Manitoba Hydro and began his 53-year career as a power line man. In July of 1965 he married Donna Smith and together they started their family. Gordon’s career as a linesman took Donna and Gordon across Manitoba and Alberta before settling the family in Rimbey in 1982 where they raised their three children, Grant, Michelle and Shane. Gordon was a self-made carpenter and together he and Donna built many homes along the way.
Throughout his life Gordon was an active community member and people could always count him for a friendly chat. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golfing, curling, camping and driving his boat. Gordon spent his retirement years relaxing in Arizona with Donna and their many friends, and spending time with grandchildren and family at their Parkland Beach home.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna, children Grant Render (Diana), Michelle Doyle (Dan), Shane Render (Rhiannon) and grandchildren Zachary, Callie, Noah, and Jacob. Gordon also leaves to mourn one sister Barbara McLeod, sisters-in-law Audrey McCutcheon, Gail Smith (Denes) and Gloria Render and brother-in law Mervyn Smith (Linda) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 01, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rimbey, AB
