It is with great sadness that the family of Heike Knierim has to announce that she was tragically and unexpectedly taken from us in a car accident on April 5, 2024. “We carry you in our hearts and miss you very much.” Heike was born on April 25, 1968 in Rotenburg an der Fulda, Germany and moved to Canada in December 2008.
Heike is survived by her mother (Elfriede Minna Knierim), brother (Uwe Knierim), sister in-law (Anja Knierim and nieces(Alica Knierim & Annika Knierim), family and friends in Germany. Also left to mourned is her close friends Sandra Pickhardt and family, Marsha Mantai, Tim Pringle, Kiara Donnelly, Claire Maddison and many more. Heike was predeceased by her father Ernst Knierim.
Heike was proud to be a Canadian. She was a strong, fierce, and positive woman that touched the lives of everyone she met. Heike had a way of finding the bright side in every situation, even the most difficult ones. She had a smile that was contagious and would brighten any room when she entered it. Heike was known for her zest for life. She loved hiking the trails of the river valley in Edmonton, random road trips to the mountains, traveling, country music, volunteering for her community and charities and the Edmonton Oilers - always attending as many games as she could. Heike always knew how to have a good time and make the best of every day. Heike had a couple life mottos that she lived by and in her memory we encourage you to live by these mottos too. “You can dream it, you can do it, giving up is not an option.” “Don’t live your life, live your dream..Follow your dreams and never let go.” “If you don’t try, how will you ever know.”
A Celebration of Heike’s Life will be held at the Lakedell Agricultural Society in Pigeon Lake on Saturday May 4th at 1:00pm, where attendees are encouraged to dress in their favourite Oilers gear and Cowboy boots. 461043 RR 12, Westerose, AB T0C 2V0
