It is with great sadness and peace that Hendrik (Henk) Wikkerink went home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 1, 2025 at his home in Lacombe, AB.
Henk was born in Holland to Jan and Engelina Wikkerink and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1953, settling in Taber, Alberta. After a short time in Taber, the family moved to the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia where they enjoyed the warmer climate and began farming. Henk worked at various sawmills before beginning his own business as a dairy equipment sales and service man
Henk and Gladys were married in 1971 and had three beautiful children. Throughout the years, the family enjoyed camping trips, Sunday afternoon bike rides, and gardening. Henk and Gladys enjoyed travelling to various hot spots around the world, especially Mexico. Henk loved old cars, John Deere tractors, and woodworking and always had a soft spot for children.
After a short battle with cancer, Gladys passed away in April 2013. Two years later, Henk moved back to Alberta, this time to Lacombe where he could be closer to family. Henk loved spending time in Nicole’s garden, weeding and picking beans. He joined Bentley curling club, peeled hundreds of pounds of potatoes for CACHS catering, and enjoyed quality time with family.
Henk is survived by his children: Nicole (Kevin) Tolsma, Matthew (Maria), and Karen and grandchildren: Reuben (Alyssa), Nathaniel, Julie, Olivia, Adam, Luke, Noah, and Sofia. He is predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Gladys, and several brothers.
We are thankful that he is at rest in his Heavenly Father’s arms and reunited with Gladys.
