James 'Jim' Heisler Obituary

James “Jim” Charles Heisler
May 24, 1950 - May 24, 2025

Our beloved Jim passed away May 24, 2025 on his 75th birthday.

He is celebrated, deeply loved, and missed by his wife Katherine; his daughter Megan Dart (Matt Schuurman); his daughter Elizabeth Dart; and his granddaughter Alice SchuurDart; as well as his sisters Nancy Bolli (Brian); Karen Knight; and Lee Moffat (Rob); his sister-in-law Patti Gordon (Ken); his brother-in-law John Downey (Carolyn); and their families. Jim is predeceased by his parents Pat & Jack Heisler.

Jim lived a full and vibrant life marked by accomplishment, deep devotion, and endless energy. A respected and accomplished businessman, Jim built a career grounded in integrity, determination, and leadership. But more than that, he built a life rich with connection, adventure, and joy.

He was never one to sit still — and why would he when there were mountains to climb, trails to ride, fires to build, and paths to explore? Jim was happiest under an open sky, whether on a bike, around a campfire, or grilling steaks to perfection.

He was a loving husband, a beloved father, and a fiercely loyal friend. Jim and Katherine built community no matter where they lived, and have a wide circle of friends across many provinces and states. Jim and Katherine are known for being exceptional hosts - the door is always open, the wine is generously poured, the laughter is infectious.

To know Jim is to know someone who embraced life with tenacity and an open heart. His spirit lives on in every bike ride and every toast shared in good company.

True to form, he did things his way — even the timing of his final goodbye felt like one last wink to the universe. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

Please join Jim's family for a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the Gull Lake Community Hall in the Summer Village of Gull Lake.
