SPEED, James “Jim” Allen

1948 - 2020

James “Jim” Allen Speed of Alix, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Monday, May 11, 2020 at the age of 72 years.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ray, his father, Allen Speed of Erskine, Alberta, his children; Denise, Allen, Elizabeth, Trish and Kevin, numerous grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Diane, Irving (predeceased), Randy, Laura, Russell, Sharon and Helen and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was born in Wainwright, Alberta and remained in the Central Alberta area his entire life. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator, with a passion for the Caterpillar D-9, while constructing numerous roads in Central Alberta.

He enjoyed the outdoors and especially the West County of Alberta, spending many days horseback riding and camping.

He was a quiet and gentle man with a connection to small animals and will be sadly missed by his beloved cat, Taz. 

No Funeral Services will be held at Jim’s request.
