Jantje "Jenny" Brink Obituary

On Friday August 3, 2018 the Lord called home Jantje (Jenny) Brink (Zee)  at the age of 88. She was born on Oct 11, 1929 in Andijk Holland.

Our wife, Mom, Oma and Great Oma will be lovingly  remembered  by Klaas her husband of 61 years, her children Kathleen and Brian Van Dam- Yvonne and Ryan, Esther and Jason, Jonathan and Chelsea (Tanner); Elsie and Rob Sanders – Kelsey and Kyle, Colin, Dean and Tara; Harvey and  Coby Brink- Kyle and Allie ( Lucas); Ashley and Bowen ( Hunter, Piper); Wendy and Randy Ehman – Reva and Ronnie ( Riley); Jenny- Lee and Tyler, Ethan, Levi; Fred Brink (Tyler) Sandy Jackson; Valerie and Murray King- Mickayla and Chance.

She will also be missed by her sisters: Aaf Kooiman, Tini Opdendries, Diet and Gerritt Meindersma and Wilhelmina Kits; Dads family: Willem and Jannie Brink,, Jannie Bloxzijl, Aly Veldman, Deinie Brink, and many nephews and nieces,

Mom was the seventh child of nine born to Frank and Abeletje Zee in Andijk, Netherlands on October 11, 1929.  In 1949, the family immigrated to Picture Butte where the girls worked in the beets, later moving to Red Deer in 1952 to the house on Ross Street.

Mom and Dad met through young peoples at the Red Deer First Christian Reformed Church. Mom was in Calgary at the time and they courted through letters.

Mom's faith was very important to her and from the very first letters it was important that both Mom and Dad felt the Lord's leading to have their relationship progress further. After only several months on November 14, 1956 they were married at the First Christian Reformed church in Red Deer. Mom and Dad lived on the farmyard of Grace Esselink near Bentley, purchasing it in 1965.

Mom was a devoted wife, home maker and mother to six of us children and later became the proud Oma to 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In Mom's spare time she enjoyed the fellowship of ladies aid at church, bowling, reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing and travelling. Mom lived faithfully for the Lord, seeking his will in all that she did. Her joy was to be in the presence of Klaas, her children and her siblings. Her quiet, gentle nature was a blessing to all.

In January 2017, Mom moved into the Bentley Care Center. There she was very well cared for after her health continued to decline.  Her sweet, gentle spirit was often fondly spoken of by her amazing caregivers.
