“Jaygo”
Jason Reed
September 22, 1974 to August 15, 2024
It is with tremendous heartache that the family of Jason Reed “Jaygo” of Lacombe announce his passing unexpectedly from an iliac (pelvic) aneurism after work and at home, in his shop, on August 15, 2024, at the young age of 49.
Jason was one of the good ones. He had a heart like no other. He was tough, loving, resilient, invincible. He had a diligent and meticulous work ethic and always strived to be the best and he always pushed you to be the best too. He’d always wanted you to succeed. He was generous with his knowledge. He had wisdom. If he didn’t know the answer, he would brainstorm with you and come up with one. He was loving but tough, and that was because he cared. He wanted everyone to be the best they could be and always lived his life as the gold standard example of what the best looks like. Although he would deny all of those claims to fame.
Jason had a passion for building and started his lifelong career at the age of 14, working summers for Alfred Breitkreuz. He married his loving and devoted wife, Twila, in May of 1996. He started his own company, Jaygo Construction Ltd. in 1998. He never had a website or advertised. He ran 26 years of business by word of mouth. A testament to his integrity. He helped Twila raise two beautiful daughters, Kahlie (2002) and Ashlie (2003). He was the best groomsman or best man at 6 different weddings, including his daughter’s wedding. Even Kahlie’s fiancé, Aaron, asked Jaygo to stand up for him on their big day.
Everyone that knew Jaygo, knew he loved dirt bikes. He was the modern day Evel Kinevel and had the amount of injuries and surgeries to prove it. He lived life to the fullest and didn’t slow down. Not even when he was broken. His surgeons were amazed by him. He was a minor celebrity at Lacombe and Red Deer hospitals.
His other passion was “his girls” as he always stated. That’s why he worked so damn hard, to provide for them. He loved his family more than anything. He was an amazing husband, dad, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be truly missed.
Jason leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Twila Reed, daughters Kahlie (Aaron) Vaandrager, and Ashlie (Landon Geddert) Reed, his parents James and Joan Reed, Father-in-Law Joe Rieland, brother Lorin (Janis Starling) Reed and children Kody, Jacob, Ada, and Oliver, brother James (Britney) Reed and children Colby, Alanna, and Jaxon, 4 brother-in-laws; Joe (Johanne) Rieland and children Jason (Leah) Rieland and Corie (Jesse Campbell) Rieland, Kelvin Rieland and children Roman Rieland and McKayla (David) Parker, Gerald (Kim Bonevitch) Rieland and children Amie (Mike) Packer, Tyson Rieland and child Kyler, and Ray (Dolly) Rieland, children Amanda (Mike) Bolger and Rachel (Adam Goerlitz), sister-in-law Trina (Brad) Seibel and children Luke and Callen.
Jason is predeceased by his Mother-in-Law Lorna Rieland, and grandparents James and Gwen Reed and Dave and Margret Scheuerman.
