Jessie 'Evelyn' (Whitecotton) Frizzell

The family of Jessie Evelyn Frizzell is saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Lacombe Hospital, at the age of 93 years.

Evelyn was born on the family farm northwest of Lacombe, the youngest daughter of Walter and Jessie (nee Hubbard) Whitecotton. She was raised there with sisters May and June, and brothers Roy, Smoke, and Loren, and attended school at Iowalta.

She and Ralph Frizzell were married on April 12, 1952, and established their family farm in the Lincoln district. Son Jerry was born in 1953 and daughter Gloria in 1957. She was known for her fabulous cooking (especially her homemade buns) and gardening skills, and took pride in their well-manicured yard. She and Ralph were very active in the community, and loved hosting and attending gatherings with friends and neighbours. After Ralph’s death in 1991, Evelyn moved to Lacombe, where she resided until her passing. She was a wonderful mother, and ‘Nana’ to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as ‘auntie’ to all of her and Ralph’s nieces and nephews and families.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, infant brother Willie, sisters June (Munro) and May (Smith), brother Roy, and husband Ralph. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Debbie (Jeff and Shauna, Treytin and Taryn; Amy and William Cuellar), by daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Vern Wagner (Katrina and Michael Hudec, Jack and Amelia; Nathan and Stacey Wagner, Cache, Mabel and Waylon). She is also survived by brothers Loren (Connie) Whitecotton of Rimbey, and Smoke (Alice) Whitecotton of Vernon, BC; and by girlhood friend Min Richmond.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lacombe Lodge, at Royal Oak Manor and at Lacombe Hospital for the excellent care that she received in her final days. We are also grateful for the visits and kind actions, words and prayers by Evelyn’s friends, nieces and nephews.

Evelyn’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Meadowbrook Church (421076 Hwy792).
