MILLER, Jill Bernadette, died peacefully from complications due to Parkinson’s disease at the Royal Oak Village Retirement Community in Lacombe, Alberta on Sunday September 20, 2020 in her 76th year.
She leaves behind her daughter, Mary Elizabeth, lovingly known as Lisa. Her grandson Cailean David and granddaughter Willow David, who fondly remember their grandmother for the many afternoons in the backyard sun surrounded by cats and family; her love for making pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving; celebrating any milestones in her grandchildren’s lives; and for how great a woman from Fort William, Quebec, could look in cowboy boots at the Calgary Stampede. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou, Kluane, Bonnie (Lorne), her nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her many friends. Although Jill lived in Alberta since the 80’s, her love for the Ottawa Valley never waned. In her younger days, living at Fort William, Jill served as sacristan for the Chapel of St Theresa of the Little Flower. Her wishes are to be interred in St. Paul the Hermit Cemetery in Sheenboro, Quebec, next to her parents and her brother, Bobby.
A huge thank you to the nurses and staff at the Royal Oak Village, for showing such love and compassion, forming an honour guard as her body was taken from the Residence, Dr. Ron Keller, and especially to a wonderful friend and caregiver to Jill, Lindsay Petriew and her family.
Due to COVID-19 a private family gathering is TBD
