It is with great sadness the family of Joanne Brackenbury announce her passing on Tuesday, November 10th in Lacombe, Alberta. Joanne passed away peacefully at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Center (Palliative Care) at the age of 72 after a lengthy battle with Cancer.

Joanne was born and raised in Lacombe and loved her role as a Mental Deficiency Nurse (MDN) at the Michener Center in Red Deer for over 37 years. She enjoyed gardening and had a 'green thumb' just like her mother and was always willing to share the fruits of her labor and extensive advice to those who had any questions. She also participated and contributed to numerous Charities close to her heart.

Joanne's passion was travelling; some of the places she visited were Europe, Russia, China, Cuba, Domican Republic, especially enjoying several trips to Costa Rica and her 'happy place', Las Vegas.

Joanne is survived by her loving children Kristy (Mike) Wells of Westaskiwn, Sheldon (Roxanne) Brackenbury of Airdrie as well as her grandchildren Draxton Homan, Devlin Wells and Jakob Wells. She will be remembered by her sister in law, Jan Salamandick of Red Deer, Lawrence (Judy) Salamandick of Edmonton, Doreen (Craig) Flewelling of Bowden and sister in law Sheila McRae of Pincher Creek. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, her loving friends and Grand- Doggers.

She is predeceased by her father Joseph Salamandick 1986, loving mother Lena Salamandick (nee Dick) 2008, bother Kenneth Salamandick 1996, brother Harold Salamandick 2006 and niece Lisa Salamandick 2009.

Thank you to the wonderful Nurses and Staff at the Lacombe Hospital (Palliative Care), Dr. McKibbin and everyone who contributed to her wonderful care.
