It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of John Samson of Lacombe, after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 69 years.
John is survived by his loving wife, Karen; daughters, Cher Erickson and Sandra Brown (Luke); five grandsons, Bodhi, Kai, Sequoia, Wyatt, and Hunter; sisters, Loris Samson (Mike) and Lorna Heikkila (Len); nephew, Adam; as well as many good friends and comrades.
John devoted his working career to the oilfield - Piston Well Services Inc. - and made many friends along the way.
He enjoyed calling the quaint town of Lacombe "home" and loved tending to his beautiful backyard and fishpond. John was always outdoors. His passions often took him into nature. For many years, John and Karen travelled the U.S. and Canada on his Harley-Davidson. They spent many summers quadding and camping with friends in the back country and more recently they took to off-road jeeping.
John was an adrenaline junkie, and the life of the party around a campfire. Always quick-witted, he brought laughter to a crowd.
Time spent with the grandsons was special to John. He showered them with love, lessons, and gifts. They left him amazed at how quickly they were growing up and how unique they all are. Visits, Facetime, videos, and pictures from the family members in New Brunswick brought John great joy.
Cher, Sandra and Luke meant the world to him. He was always there for them and enjoyed their time together. They loved John dearly.
Many homecooked meals and quality time were shared with his sisters and family. John loved to BBQ for everyone.
He left us with much more than we can ever thank him for....
