Joy Augusta (Schultz) Thompson

Joy Augusta Thompson of Lacombe, formerly of Bashaw and New Sarepta, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 77 years of age.

Born in Ponoka on June 25,1948 to Peter and Jenny Schultz, Joy was a savvy businesswoman via her hair salon, The Joy’s of Hair, for 15 years. She also dedicated her personal life to creating a warm, loving and nurturing environment for her family, extended family, coworkers, and friends. Joy loved traveling, sewing and quilting. Her love, guidance and support will be deeply missed.

Joy’s husband, Don Thompson, and his family, her daughter Pamela and her son Gordon and their families, including four grandchildren (Hannah, Steven, Gabe, Daniel), are left to cherish her memory, along with her two brothers, Dale Schultz and Murray Schultz and their families.

A Celebration of Joy’s life will be held at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel (6120 Hwy 2A, Lacombe) on Saturday, August 16,2025 at 1:00pm.

Instead of flowers the family suggests a donation to Canada Helps (canadahelps.org) or The Broomtree Foundation in Lacombe (thebroomtreefoundation.com).
