Karen Hilda Kargaard

Karen Kargaard passed peacefully away on the twenty-second of May 2025 with her son Les by her side.

She was born on the sixth of August 1944, near Rich Valley Alberta. Predeceased by her parents Bill and Esther Kargaard and her great-granddaughter Callie Ruel, and cherishing her memory are her brother Rick Kargaard and his son Wayne; her son Les Borle (Juanita) and his children Neil, Kayla, and Nicole; her daughter Lyana Frizzel-Borle (Jay) and her children Travis, Kimberly, and Tamara; her daughter Corrine Callihoo and her children Cody and Riley; and her great-grandchildren Lilah Ruel, Isabel Ruel, Nathanael Broadway, Elizabeth Broadway, Johannah Broadway, Tucker Layte, River Pittman, Thomas Fewchuk, Amelia Fewchuk, Hendrick Jejna, and Julia Jejna. In 1962, she married Florry Borle and had three children.

Aside from her business in hairdressing, Karen was also an avid real estate entrepreneur.  She dabbled with building houses and renovating older homes, flipping them for the benefit of her community.  Karen loved travelling - she visited Denmark as a younger woman with her mother; took in the sights in Florida, like Disney, Daytona and the Florida Keys; and of course, her many roadtrips to Arizona during the winter.  Karen always had to stay busy, having fun or just getting out, whether that was dancing, golfing, playing cards, puttering in her garden, or hitting the casino.

Beloved by her family and many neighbors, she is remembered as always welcoming and serving the community around her. In any crisis she was always rushing to the aid.

A Memorial Celebration will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rich Valley (Village Missions) Community Church (Range Road 32, Rich Valley).  Interment will take place at the Rich Valley Cemetery, and luncheon will be served..
