It is with deep sadness that the family of Ken Carlson of Blackfalds, Alberta, announces his peaceful passing on August 29, 2025, at the age of 92.
Ken was born in Calgary, Alberta, on June 19, 1933. He was forever proud of his Alberta western roots and the cowboy life that shaped him. From his earliest days, Ken worked with steady hands and a steadfast spirit — first on the family farm, then in the mines of East Coulee, and later through decades in the oilfields. Of all his labors, none brought him greater joy than raising his family. Ken will be remembered not only for his devotion to them, but also for the simple joys that defined his life: the rhythm of a good dance, the quiet companionship of a long ride, and the laughter of his grandchildren. He was the best riding partner, the best dancing partner, and above all, a man of integrity, hard work, and love. Ken’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, his friends, and all those who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life for Ken will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Hall. Following the tribute, there will be a potluck dinner and chili cook-off — one of Ken’s favorite traditions — followed by a campfire and fellowship as we share stories and memories together. Guests are welcome to bring campers, trailers, or tents and stay overnight. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to honor Ken by gathering with loved ones, sharing a meal, and spending time in the great outdoors — just as he loved to do
