Obituary

Kevin Ray Derksen

August 29, 1977

July 17, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Ray Derksen.  Kevin passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2022 from an unexpected heart attack.  Even though his heart had failed him and took him for this world, his kind, generous and loving heart left a beacon of light for all his family and friends.

Kevin is survived by his wife Melissa; daughter Elizabeth (stinker); mother Sandy Derksen; brother Chris (Sarah) Derksen; and sister Sara Derksen.  He leaves behind his beloved grandpa Bill Bergen; numerous nieces; a nephew; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as an abundance of extended family and friends.

Kevin was predeceased by his grandmother Elma Bergen and father James Galan.

Kevin lived for his family and his job.  Kevin started out as a window glazer in Winnipeg, MB and moved to Calgary, AB to continue his trade.  After years of hard work Kevin, entered into the Alberta oil patch and quickly worked his way up.  He loved what he did and took pride in his career and his crew.  If you didn’t find him sitting at his desk, you would find him sitting out by a fire, or spending time with his daughter out at the lake and in his boat.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at one of his favorite places “The Lake”, Pine Lake Leisure Campground, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  We want to honor the memory of this wonderful man who was a husband, father, son, brother and dedicated hard working man.  In Kevin fashion there will be a fire, friends and family, and drinks.  We ask that you attend and help share in the memories he created.
