Kristopher "Kris" Coleman Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Kristopher Tod Coleman on September 1, 2022 at the age of 56.

Kris was born on July 5, 1966 in Thompson Manitoba to Terrance and Dianne Coleman. The family remained in Thompson along with his younger sister Kim until they moved to Red Deer in 1973. Kris attended Annie L. Gaetz during his early school years and graduated from Lindsay Thurber Composite High School in 1984.

Kris enjoyed sports and had a great love of music and cars. After graduating, Kris moved to Lacombe in 1984. He started Red Onion Pizza that same year with his first business partner Darren McArthur; his longtime business partner Dave Kierluk joined him in 1990. In 1992 Kris met the 30-year love of his life Joan Robertson, and they were married in November 1994. Anthony Terrance Coleman was born in 2000, and that same year they moved into their new family home at Gull Lake which they still reside in today. After selling Red Onion Pizza, Kris and Dave continued their business partnership when they founded Empire Auto Sales in 1996.  They enjoyed many years in the business community, and Kris began his retirement years in 2019 when Empire was sold.

Kris was a long-standing member of the Lacombe Kinsmen Club and an active participant in organizing the Lacombe Kinsmen Pro Rodeo, Santa’s Anonymous and various other charitable events. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his community, family and friends.  Kris was a volunteer member of the Lacombe Fire Department for over 10 years where he formed many life-long friendships. Kris enjoyed camping, quad trips, and building projects with his good friend and neighbor Boyd Helm. Kris’s true passion was spending time with his son, and the quality time spent with Joan and Anthony at Buffalo Lake and during their many adventures in Mexico.  Joan and Kris were Anthony’s biggest fans at all his sporting events including hockey and football and are so proud of the young man he has become.

Kris leaves to mourn his wife Joan, son Anthony, sister Kim, stepmother Marg and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. He is predeceased by his father and mother Terry and Dianne, father-in-law and mother-in-law Stuart and Helen Robertson, brother-in-law Arlen Williams.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kris’s name to Lacombe Kinsmen or Team Jigger Foundation.

A Celebration of Kris's Life will be held at the Lacombe Memorial Memorial Centre, 5214 - 50th Avenue, Lacombe on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
