Lillian “Katie” Kathleen (nee Marryatt) Gaudin

1936 – 2021

With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Katie. Katie was born in a small, wooded hamlet out of Halifax, N.S. on July 5, 1936.  She was the daughter of Ainsley & Edythe Marryatt and one of 11 children. After high school, Katie graduated from normal college in Truro, N.S. and taught for 10 years in the province. She met Roger Holteen and they married in 1957.  They had 4 children and lived in Spryfield, N.S. before moving to Lacombe in 1966, where Roger practiced law until his passing in 1999.

Kate was very active in the community, especially in her service to St. Stephen Catholic Church.

She loved her skiing, golfing, and hiking, especially her trips with her children and grandchildren.

She met George in a snowstorm on the mountain and said, “Follow Me”. They them were married on July 4, 2003, and enjoyed years of travelling and skiing until her health failed. She spent much time at George’s farm helping with the garden and walking and exploring the beautiful land around Buffalo Lake.

Katie is survived by her beloved family; her children, Stu (Karen), Greg (Darcie), Lisa, Myles (Kerri); her grandchildren, Kurt, Kale, Danna- Leigh, Clayton, Patti and Josh; great grandchildren, Ainsley, Cora Lee, Austin, Hayden, Audric, River and Kalel. She will also be missed by her husband George, extended family, and many friends. She was predeceased by her grandson Ryan, in 2013.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, Lacombe, Alberta on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
