Linda Hunter Obituary

It is with joyful hearts that we celebrate the life of Linda Sophia Hunter, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend to many who passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024. Linda was a cheerful and fun-loving lady known for her infectious laughter and unwavering love for her family.

Join us in honoring Linda’s memory at her Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Lacombe Memorial Centre located at 5214 50 Ave, Lacombe, AB.  Please stay and gather with the family for a hot lunch following the celebration at 12:15 PM. Everyone is warmly invited to celebrate as we share stories, laughter, and love in her honor.

Linda leaves behind her devoted husband of 33 years, Stephen and her cherished daughter Karen and son-in-law, Glen Snethun.   She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to both Carter and Georgia and her legacy of love will live on in their hearts.

Linda is also survived by siblings Evelyn Huff (Larry Dickinson), Fay Miller, Charles Berg (Marion Wuetherick), Darlene Berg, Kathy Berg, Janice Russell, Jim (Sue) Berg, and sister-in-law Joanne Berg, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she cherished dearly.  She also loved her “Lucky-Dog.”

Linda was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Myrtle Berg, son-in-law Lorne Wronko, her mother-in-law and father-in-law John & Marion Hunter, brothers Ray Berg and Walter Berg, niece Michelle Berg, and great-nephews Jesse Miller and Danny Lints, as well as cherished sisters-in-law Catherine Ward and brothers-in-law Norman Larsen Sr, Marvin Huff, Craig Russell, Doug Ward, and Jim Bright.

We are profoundly grateful to her siblings Jim & Sue, and Evelyn & Larry, for their unwavering support during Linda’s Alzheimer’s journey. Their willingness to visit our dear Linda in the care home and assist us with her needs meant the world to us. They cheered on our family in our darkest hours and accompanied Linda with closeness and physical presence right to the end.

In lieu of flowers, please consider taking the time to support a caregiver or to spend time with someone who may be feeling isolated.  Whether it’s playing a card game, or simply reaching out to a local retirement home, your kindness can make a real difference.  People living with Alzheimer’s may struggle to express themselves, but their emotions and essence remain. Engaging them offers a chance to remind them they are not forgotten and to ease their loneliness.  Your time and attention can mean the world to them.

Linda's courageous spirit will forever remain a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
