It is with great sadness the family of Lonnie Fletcher wishes to announce Lonnie Fletcher of Bentley passed away unexpectedly at Red Deer Hospital, Jan 14, 2023 at the age of 71.
Lonnie is survived by his loving spouse; Gloria Fletcher; children Jenny Groeger and Sarah Fletcher; grandchildren Alex and Zach Groeger; stepmother Josie Fletcher, as well as numerous extended family and an abundance of friends.
Lonnie is predeceased by Paul Fletcher and Lorna Fletcher.
Lonnie and Gloria moved to Alberta from Ontario in 1974 and settled in Bentley in 1976. Both Lonnie and Gloria were active within the curling community. Lonnie loved to hunt and enjoyed traveling, canoeing, camping and fishing; almost anything outside.
Lonnie had a beautiful singing voice and loved all music. He taught himself how to play guitar, banjo and the mandolin and was able to display his talents singing on a local Ontario television show, Make Mine Country.
Lonnie was a respected welder and he retired from GATX Rail in 2016 after 34 years of service. Lonnie also proved himself to be a jack of all trades when he added a custom addition to his home creating a family space for his wife and daughters.
Service will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel Saturday, January 28, 2023 @ 1:oo pm.
