Loraine was born on October 27, 1937, to Wilfred and Stina Anderson. She was one of six children. Attended school at Stevenson Country School, a one room schoolhouse for grades 1-8 when that school closed, she then attended Bentley school. Loraine first met Bill at the Bentley hotel coffee shop. Her and her girlfriend met up with three young men from Lockhart area, visited some there then went to a show in Sylvan Lake. There were 5 of them in Pete Jaffray’s coupe. Little did they know what was to come from that outing. After graduation Loraine went to Calgary and worked for a year, then to Vancouver for few months before returning home to Bentley. Bill heard that Loraine had returned home, he called on her and that was that. They were married April 5, 1957, and moved to a farm, a two-room house. Eventually buying the Stevenson homestead in the Lockhart area, they went on to have 4 children. Loraine often cooked up large meals for her family, celebrating birthdays and special holidays.
Loraine was employed as Municipal Administrator of Bentley for 8 1/2 years. She served some time as councillor and 2 years as Deputy Mayor. Over the years Loraine had a great interest in the arts and crafts learning painting, sewing, ceramics and gardening. In her retirement she went on to give ceramic classes in her home in Bentley.
