Lyle was born in Lestock, SK to parents Bert and Jan Carter. His early years were on a farm in the Southey, SK area, then moving north to a farm north of Raymore, SK. Lyle attended Raymore school and graduated from Raymore High. After graduation he moved to Regina, SK and worked for SGI for a couple of years. While in Regina he met Bev Giofu, they married, and shortly afterwards moved to Thompson, Manitoba. Here Lyle worked at INCO mine and earned his Electrical trade ticket. Their daughter Rhonda was born in Thompson, MB. A short time later, Lyle found a position in the Rocanville, SK mine and soon after Bev moved back and settled in Regina with Rhonda. Lyle worked in the mine for a few years then made the move to Lacombe, Alberta area. He soon settled in the Hamlet of Tees, AB, where he ran the general store and post office until it was closed. He settled in Tees making it his home. Here, he met Pam Baker and they had a life together for many years. At the same time he set up his own electrical company and was able to remain busy until he eventually closed his business due to his health slowing him down.
The last 3 years, Lyle lived on his own struggling with his diabetes and spending more and more time in the hospital. Lyle passed away on July 14th, alone at home in Tees, Alberta at the age of 74, just shy of his 75th in October.
Lyle was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Jan Carter, many Aunts and Uncles, along with his niece Christina (Carter) Demyen.
Lyle leaves to mourn:
Daughter: Rhonda Carter (Doug)
Siblings: Sharon Taylor (Myron), Dale and Michelle Carter and Shirley and David Hanson.
Nieces and Nephews: David, Melissa, Shannon, Mark and Tim along with their spouses and families. Many friends and cousins and one Aunt, Anne Carter.
There will be no formal funeral. A small memorial will be held for him at his home in Tees, AB on Friday July 19, 2024 at 1:00pm. His ashes will then be taken to Raymore, Saskatchewan. He will be laid to rest with his parents and niece.
May God carry his soul to Heaven and may he be reunited with loved ones and friends. May Lyle be at peace and free from his pains.
