Marguerite Gertrude Simpson (Girodat) passed away peacefully May 9, 2022 - Mother’s Day - at the Lacombe Hospital, due to complications related to being 97 years old. She is survived by her son Donald Simpson, his wife Annemarie and their children Byron and Theresa. She is also survived by her daughter Barbara and her husband Barry; her grandson David and fiancée Cassandra; and her granddaughter Elizabeth and fiancé Joshua, sister-in-laws Iris Simpson and Marj Simpson as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents Josephine Voison & William Girodat, her brother Clatus, and sisters Helen, Colette, and Marie. Marg, or “Mike,” as she was lovingly called, spent her last seven years at the Lacombe Seniors Lodge, where she received exceptional care. The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care given to her during her brief stay at the Lacombe Hospital. Along with being a long-serving member of the Lacombe Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, she was given a life-time membership. She loved playing cards, going to bingo, and reading. Graveside Service at 3:00 pm Friday, May 13, Lacombe Fairview Cemetery. In her memory, please read a book, play cards, or go to your local bingo hall.
