Marion Louise Fordyce , 83, Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Michener Hill, Red Deer, Alberta, March 11, 2026.
Marion is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ken, daughter, Natalie (Rick), son, Keith, sister Ali (Gary), her grandchildren, Cameron (Alex), Troy(Hannah), Devon(Kirsten), Riley(Addi), Amy(Adam), and her great grand children Kennedy, Everett, and Harper. Marion was predeceased by her parents Alex and Connie and her daughter-in-law Trish
Marion was born in Calgary Alberta on December 13th, 1942. Not only sisters, she and Ali were best friends. Close in age they played together and took dance lessons. Marion, a proud Calgarian, enjoyed celebrating Stampede and dressing up in western wear. She loved going to dances and chumming around with her girlfriends. Fairmont Hot Springs was the family's favorite vacation destination. Her Hungarian heritage was very important to her.
Marion attended Crescent Heights High School and then worked at CIBC. She met Ken at a restaurant close to work in 1961. They married in 1963. Ken’s job as a CIBC bank Manager took the family from Calgary from 1970 to 1974 to Millet and then Onoway. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager until 1990. Marion and Ken moved to Camrose in 1993, to Lacombe in 1998, and to Red Deer in 2021.
Marion loved flower gardening, knitting, sewing, quilting, ceramics, and porcelain doll making. She enjoyed entertaining, shopping, volunteering, Red Hat Society, water aerobics, and beach holidays.
Marion was passionate about Elvis, Disney, old Hollywood, 1950’s music, being in the sun, Christmas, blingy clothes, jewelry, make-up, manicures, and dogs. In her last years she enjoyed diamond art, coloring, being on her tablet, the casino and playing bingo.
Marion kept in touch with her friends old and new. She loved celebrating holidays and birthdays. Keeping traditions was important. She was a very generous person who thoughtfully gave out gifts to everyone she knew.
Marion’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was actively involved in her children’s activities, mainly synchronized swimming and hockey. Family trips to Disneyland and Hawaii were highlights. There were many camping trips and Marion was always up for fishing. Marion and Ken travelled over the years; to Florida, Las Vegas, Eastern Canada and the Maritimes, and various other locations in the US.
Marion was blessed with 5 grandchildren. She loved to have them visit. She was brave enough to have them out camping by herself at Gull Lake. Hockey was the main activity her grandchildren were involved in and she loved to attend their games. She was extremely proud of all of her grandchildren and was thrilled to hold her great grandbabies.
Because of her love for dogs, Marion was a longtime supporter of the Alberta SPCA. Donations can be made in her honor.
