Marlene Torris Obituary

Marlene Eva (Maciborsky) Torris

Jan 7, 1942 – Dec 28, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Torris who passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Rimbey Care Center on December 28th, 2018 at the age of 76 years.  She will be greatly missed by her husband Morley after 58 years of marriage as well as her children, grandchildren, family and friends.  As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, aunt, or friend; Marlene will be remembered as a gentle soul who was always kind, loving, caring & generous to everyone she knew and met.

Marlene was born in Wetaskiwin, Ab January 7, 1942 to parents Bill and Olga Maciborsky (Ewasiuk).  She grew up  on the family farm west of Falun, Ab and attended school in Falun and Wetaskiwin.  On November 4, 1960 she married Morley Eugene Torris.  Marlene & Morley moved to Eckville in 1963 where they raised their children, ran their businesses and where Morley still resides today.  Marlene worked beside Morley as they built their trucking business while raising their active family.  Marlene also became a real estate agent for 15 years and very much enjoyed her time in real estate.  Marlene was an avid gardener and loved her flowers.  She often took flowers from her garden to make wedding arrangements for friends and acquaintances.  She also enjoyed cooking and canning and enjoyed preparing meals for friends and family.  Marlene also enjoyed curling, fishing, camping, going to rodeos and watching hockey.  Marlene was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and dance and was instrumental in bringing (and helping with) the annual Ukrainian Festival in Eckville.  She was devoted to her family and always supportive of their endeavors and volunteered her time to many local causes.

Marlene was pre-deceased by her sister Oriole Lynn Maciborsky (Mar 4, 1943 -Aug 5, 1943), her parents Bill and Olga (Moya) and her sister Judy Green.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children Tammy (Steve) Maddox, Darrell (Terri) Torris, Dwayne (Arlene Anderson) Torris; her grandchildren Clint(Erin) Maddox, Kalynn (Bobby) Miller, Coleman (AJ Neish) Maddox, Tristyn (John West) Torris, Braely Torris, Rayelle Torris; her great-grandchildren Logan and Layne Maddox, Hadley Miller & Heath West; her sister Rosalie (Roland) Begg as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Marlene, donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, the Alzheimers Society, or charity of choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eckville Community Center 5305-5315 – 52 Street, Eckville Ab on January 9th, 2019 at 2 pm.
