Maury Allen Benson

Maury Benson of Lacombe Royal Oak Village passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Lacombe Hospital on April 12, 2023 at the age of 78 years old. He was born in Sexsmith, AB. He went to join his family - his parents Maurice & Katherine Benson, and two sisters Shirley Benson & Jean Benson.
Maury is survived by his 2 children - Shanta Benson and Tamara Benson (granddaughter Aysa Dietz), Donna Weller, his sister Rita Lee (nephews Jim & Bob Lee), and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Maury went to school in Hythe, AB and grew-up playing hockey and baseball which he enjoyed into his adult years. If he was not attending games he was watching them on TV - Edmonton Oilers ( 25 years/Stanley Cups), Edmonton Eskimos/Elks football and Red Deer Rebels games. In his leisure time he enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and travelling.
His career of 33 years was banking with Alberta Treasure Branch (ATB Financial). Maury started in Hythe, AB and then the following years took him to nine other communities: Edmonton, Barrhead (twice), Vermilion, Three Hills, Linden, Forestburg, Vegreville and Lacombe where he retired. After retiring he worked with a few different companies. His last employment was with Cash Casino, Red Deer, AB working Security.
No formal funeral service will be held.
Special thanks to the staff at Royal Oak Village and the Lacombe Hospital who took excellent care of Maury’s well-being.
