It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Murray Ellis Hewitt on August 25, 2025 at the age of 60.
Murray was born in Hudson Bay Junction, Saskatchewan to Winston (predeceased) and Doreen Hewitt. Murray was a farmer all of his life. Alongside farming, he worked as a skilled heavy equipment mechanic and ran his own septic pumping business in Severn, Ontario. Eventually he moved to Alberta, where he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of ranching Stone Hill Farm full time. Murray loved his family, his farm, John Deere and his faith in Jesus above all else. His hands were rarely still; whether he was strumming his guitar, caring for his cattle or working on the never-ending projects that would always be done “someday”.
Murray leaves behind his loving wife Leslie, his mother Doreen, children: Kelsey (Michael), Kacey (Thomas), Kaleb (Holly), Joshua (Lisa), Joanna and Drew. He will also be deeply missed by his sister, step-siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many dear friends and 13 cherished grandchildren.
Our hearts are beyond broken by the impossible cowboy boots left to fill. Murray’s work here on earth is done, and we take comfort in knowing he now rests in the arms of his Lord and Saviour.
