Nicole 'Nikki' Kessel Obituary

Nicole "Nikki" Stacey Kessel (nee Beatty) died Sunday August 10, 2025, at Lacombe Hospital surrounded by friends and family. Born in Calgary in 1979, her family later moved to central Alberta where she spent most of her life.

Blackfalds was where her and husband Edward raised their family. Nikki’s greatest joy was her family – husband Ed, and daughters Erika, Rylee, Sienna. The family enjoyed camping throughout Alberta, and trips to Disney.

She enjoyed seeing all her daughters involved in dance and the family thanks the Dance Magic community for their support during the last few years. Additionally, the family was involved in Lionheart Martial Arts and wish to thank the Lionheart community for their support too.

Nikki worked as a civilian member for the RCMP as a dispatcher. It was challenging work, often hearing firsthand about people’s worse days. But in that community, she developed supportive colleagues and friends.

She is survived by husband, Edward; daughters, Erika, Rylee, and Sienna; father, David and his wife, Cheryl; mother, Kelly and her husband Mark; brother, Michael, his wife Snezana and children Layne, Mika and Theodore; mother-in-law, Vicki; sister-in-law, Myrna; step-siblings, Tonya and Christopher; as well as other nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Cross Cancer Centre in Edmonton, for their care during the last few years. Special thanks to Dr. M. Sawyer and Dr. Y. Tarumi. Thanks as well to the staff at Lacombe Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.

Donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.

A service of remembrance and celebration will be held on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at 1pm. Lunch to follow. Location: St. Leonard’s on the Hill Anglican Church, 4241 – 44 Street, Red Deer.
