Robert Darcy George Strand
1970 - 2020
After a hard battle with cancer, Rob passed away at the age of 50 at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre. Rob passed away surrounded by love and family.
He was a soulmate to his beautiful strong wife, Kim Strand; their love spread to make a family of six with four daughters, Rachel (Ken Carritt), Jesslyn (Matthew Hutchison), Christina (Lindsey Rocher) and Breanna. He was an outstanding grandpa to his grandchildren Kael and Mercedes. He will be missed by his enormous family and his abundance of friends that became family.
Rob had a long lasting career working in the diamond mine in the Northwest Territories. He was born in Olds, Alberta before he fell in love with the north. He was a strong, hardworking man that supported his girls. Rob loved to spend his time drinking beer, camping, watching reality TV and playing darts.
Rob will be remembered most for the love he had for his family and friends, making the best of any situation, and his smirk. He wasn't a man of many words but he touched every single person he met without even knowing it. Rob was the light in our life. He was Strand Strong.
Special thanks to the palliative care unit at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre. Rob spent the last 11.5 weeks in their care fighting a long, hard battle.
Rob only wanted a big party, the celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rob's name to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society. http://www.lacombepalliativecare.com/
