HAVERLAND, Roland “Rollie” Ralph
June 17, 1944 – April 1, 2022
Roland “Rollie” Ralph Haverland passed peacefully to his heavenly home on Friday, April 1, 2022, after a three-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Rollie was born in Stony Plain, Alberta to Elmer and Maud (nee Robinson) Haverland on June 17, 1944. He attended school in Onoway from grades 1-12. After graduation, he chose to make his way to Prince Rupert, B.C. where he worked in a sawmill for several years. After returning to Alberta, he worked at several different jobs before he began work in the oil patch at several locations and positions. His final employment was self-employment as a painter and owning his own business “Rollie’s Roller Painting”.
Rollie was a caring man and enjoyed helping others and doing volunteer work at his Church and Camp Silversides. Rollie and Norma travelled to the U.S. for two six-week volunteer assignments with World Renew. Rollie was also a member of the local Gideons Chapter for a number of years.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Norma; his sister, Ruthie and brother-in-law, Stirling Welwood; his brothers, Ken (Rose) and Lyle (Val) Haverland; sisters-in-law, Pearl, Yvonne, Bonnie and Elsie Haverland; by Norma’s family daughter and son-in-law, Kendra (Gord) Bamford and their children, Nash, Paisley and Memphis; grandsons, Brandon and Riley Mathies; Norma sisters, Donna and her husband Lloyd (Lofgren) and Gail Andres; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
Rollie was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Maud Haverland; his brothers, Earle, Clarence, “Max” Myron and David.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Parkside Alliance Church on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. A family celebration and interment at the Onoway Cemetery will be held at a later date.
