Ronald Cole Obituary

Ronald Jesse Cole, second son of Jesse and Sarah Cole, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2021, in Lacombe, Alberta.  Ron was born in Coronation, Alberta, on October 11, 1933.  He grew up at Brownfield until age eleven after which his family moved to a farm near Clive.  Ron finished grade 12 at Clive School, then attended Olds Agricultural College for a year. Growing up Ron always enjoyed agriculture, and was an enthusiastic member of the local 4-H grain club.  During this time, Ron and Lawrence Wagner successfully competed to win a province wide grain judging competition which gave them the privilege to attend Toronto Royal Winter Fair.  In 1956, Ron attended the Baptist Leadership Training School in Calgary. As a teenager Ron accepted Christ into his life, and was baptized becoming a member of the Clive Baptist Church. Throughout his life, Ron remained active in serving the Lord in various capacities in the community.  Ron started farming in his early twenties and developed a mixed farm of livestock and grain.  His favorite season was harvest time, and he always relished his time operating the combine.  In 1966, Ron married Elnora Janzen.  Over the course of time, they raised a family of two sons, James and Edward, and for short period nurtured their niece, Peggy.   Ron found great enjoyment and camaraderie on numerous hunting expeditions with his cousins, and in later life with his sons. He always took great pride in his excellent marksmanship!  Ron also found relaxation and satisfaction playing his fiddle by himself, with friends, or for his grandchildren.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Sarah Cole, and his elder brother, Gerald Cole.  Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife of 55 years, Elnora; his sons James (Kelly), Edward (Nancy), and grandchildren Ethan, Ranen, Adam, and Andrew; his sister-in-law, Jean Iris; brother, Allan (Annita); sister, Mardi (John Mcphail); and many special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Lacombe Hospital for their special consideration and compassion for Ron during his time in their care.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to The Canadian Food Grains Bank (www.foodgrainsbank.ca), or Missionary Aviation Fellowship (www.mafc.org/donate).

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at the Clive Cemetery in Clive, Alberta.
