Ronald Wright Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, we announce that Ronald William Elwood Wright has gone to his Heavenly home on January 5, 2024 at the Lacombe Long Term Care Center with his loving and devoted wife Helen of 23 years by his side.

Ron is survived by his wife Helen, his children, daughter Julie (Herb) Ten Hove; Deanna (Everhard) Ridder, Roy, Levi, Tyce; Barton (Amanda) Ten Hove, Hayden, Cole, Brooklyn; and Clayton (Tiffany) Ten Hove, Alex, Jasey, Nick, Myles, Kailey. Son Dan Wright; Son Gordon (Glenda) Wright; Dana (Danelle) Wright, Lily, Mira, Luke; Sean Wright, Pam (Nick) Darnell. Ron is also survived by step children, Chad (Christina) Fortowsky, Gabby, Cassidy; Cory Fortowsky, Ken (Amber) Fortowsky, Thea, Gabriel, Benjamin; siblings Doug (Liane) Wright, Ted Wright, Rita Smith (Wright), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Bill & Pearl Wright, sister in law Janice (Ted) Wright. He is survived by his first wife, Elaine Atkinson Jones.

Ron was born to Bill & Pearl Wright, on June 19, 1937, in Lacombe, Alberta. He grew up across from the Lakeside Hall. He attended school at Lakeside School, as well as Lacombe High School, and went on to Olds College to carry on the family tradition of a degree in Agriculture. He farmed grain, cattle, and pigs in the Lakeside district until 1987 when he moved to town and became a realtor for 29 years. Dad enjoyed collecting all kinds of things, reading, traveling, flying and dancing. He was an active member of the Lacombe Flying Club, Alberta Flying Farmers, Vintage Club and the Rotary. Ron married Helen Fortowsky June 30, 2001, and together they raised her grandson Ken. They traveled extensively to see the world, enjoyed dancing together, and working side by side. They had a special love for each other. Dad always enjoyed helping his son Gord on the farm with trucking, swathing and combining, giving advice and wisdom, and helping to fix things wherever he went.

He approached life with vim and vigor and enjoyed it to the fullest. Dad accomplished everything he set his mind to. His enthusiasm will be sadly missed.

We would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Lacombe Long Term Care Center for their wonderful support and care of Dad the past 3 years. As the children of Dad, we would like to thank Helen for her loving and devoted daily care of Dad.
