ROSARIO CARRAMUSA
January 20, 1941 – August 2, 2023
On Wednesday, August 2nd, just after sunrise, Rosario ‘Rosi’ Carramusa left this earth to be with our Creator in faith and love, surrounded by his family that he lived for. This world has lost a bright light.
Rosario was born in Palermo Sicily, the second of four children to his Father, Salvatore Carramusa, and his mother, Olimpia Carramusa (Ciresi). His siblings Gaetano, Giovanna, and Giuseppe, the youngest of the four.
At the young age of 16, Rosario left his home, place to work in the mine in Belgium, young and alone, working with his hands that reflected the man he was – strong and capable, loving and unyielding. Then at the age of 18?, Rosario put himself through College earning his degree as an Industrial Mechanic, his focus to work on aircrafts.
During this time, Rosario would meet the love of his life at a local dance, and shortly after he graduated from University with honors, Rosario Carramusa would ask for Pierina Petrioli’s hand in marriage, where they would spend the next 58 years in love and commitment, sharing dances with only each other.
Shortly after they were married, they would move to Thompson, Manitoba, where Rosario would work at Inco Mines as a welder and pipe-fitter, this is where he would raise his family for 9 years before moving to Winnipeg for a short period of time. Then in 1981, the Carramusa family moved to Central Alberta, the place that Rosario would spend his remaining years as most of his family and friends would come to know him – The Ponoka Fas Gas Man, funny and generous, giving and kind. Then he rebuilt and opened the Morningside Gas Station and Convenience store, even including a laundromat for those in need. Rosario was known to many as a friend among friends, his kindness and strength shining through his beautiful eyes. In 2002, Rosario and his wife Pierina would move to Lacombe Alberta, where they still live today.
His favorite place was home, surrounded by his family, whether sitting together over a shared meal, or playing games together, laughing and joking, sharing stories of his life, educating us on the ways of this life and everything between.
Rosario Carramusa is predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Olimpia Carramusa, his oldest brother Gaetano Carramusa, and his sister Giovanna Gandolfo.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pierina Carramusa (Petrioli), and their children Gaetano (Jacqueline), their children Logan (Desiree) Carramusa, and their children, Liam and Ryker Carramusa. JUST FOR TODAY
Lord, for tomorrow and it’s needs
I do not pray;
Keep me, my God, from stain of sin
Just for today.
Now, set a seal upon my lips,
For this I pray;
Keep me from wrong or idle words,
Just for today.
Let me be slow to do my will,
Prompt to obey;
And keep me, guide me, use me Lord,
Just for Today.
