Sannie McCrady Obituary

McCrady

Sannie McCrady passed peacefully with her family by her side, at 1:11am on December 18th, 2020 at 97 yrs. old. Sannie was an incredibly strong, generous and faithful woman. She was a devout Catholic who served her church and her community tirelessly. She was a woman guided by her faith; her love of family; and her generosity of spirit towards all those in need. Sannie was a lifetime member of the Canadian Mental Health Association and devoted much of her time and energy towards the cause. She was also an active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Royal Canadian Legion (Rimbey Branch #36), the Beatty House Heritage society and wherever helping hands were needed within her community.

Sannie lived most of her 97 years in the town of Rimbey, AB with her husband Bill. In her lifetime, Sannie had an “open door” policy when it came to her kitchen, always welcoming those in need of the comforts of a warm meal made with love. This generosity extended to the church, local hospital, and communities outside of Rimbey - with Sannie quick to offer her help where she could. Her culinary skills were well known and for many years she and Bill catered scrumptious, bountiful meals to hundreds of functions around central Alberta.

Sannie loved to travel whether it be romping around North America in the motor home or flying off to Asia, Europe and Africa with her husband Bill, her son Michael, his wife Ella and her grandchildren Gladys, Stephanie, and Jonathan. During these travels she formed countless beautiful memories that will be cherished by her family for the rest of their lives. Sannie McCrady was the Matriarch of the McCrady family, she was an inspiration of kindness, strength, and goodwill towards all. Sannie McCrady touched the lives of many - she will be missed dearly and remembered well.

Sannie was predeceased by her husband Bill McCrady, her son Michael McCrady, all seven of her siblings as well as many other family members and friends. She is survived by her Daughter in Law Ella (Cristina) McCrady; her grandchildren Gladys McCrady, Stephanie McCrady, and Jonathan McCrady;  great grandchildren, Morgan and Roman Serr,  as well as numerous,  nieces, and nephews from the McCrady side of Bill’s family as well as from the Hyshka side of her family.

Covid restrictions have precluded a public ceremony therefore Sannie was laid to rest at West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey AB. on Dec 29, 2020 alongside her husband, Bill McCrady, with her immediate family in attendance.

Memorial donations in Sannie’s name can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Royal Canadian Legion Rimbey, The Beatty House Heritage Society or charity of the donor’s choice.
