It is with great sadness that the family of Shaun William O’Brien of Lacombe announce his passing on April 4, 2026, at the age of 52. Shaun passed away peacefully at home following a long and courageous health battle.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Pat O’Brien, and his father, Jerry O’Brien, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Shaun was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Ruth Chessor.
Shaun grew up in Lethbridge, where he completed high school and developed a strong passion for both soccer and football. Following graduation, he enrolled with the Canadian military and completed basic training. The discipline and skills he gained during that time stayed with him throughout his life.
Shaun had many passions in his life. One of his greatest was owning an art gallery, which took him travelling to Africa to procure unique pieces. He was also an avid bodybuilder, dedicating much of his life to health and fitness. Shaun had a deep love for travel and was fortunate to explore many countries throughout his life.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and specialists for the care and support Shaun received over the past few years.
At Shaun’s request, no formal funeral service will be held.
