SALA, Stanley Frank

November 1951 – July 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stan Sala at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on July 20, 2023, at the age of 71 years after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Stan is survived by his wife Angie; his brother, Wencil; stepchildren, Louise, Corinne; step grandchildren, Christopher, Johnathon, Jaylene and Sherilynn.

He was predeceased by his sister, Maryanne; his parents, Frank and Frances and his wife, Rena.

Stan grew up in Picture Butte, graduating from Picture Butte High School and continued his education at LCC Lethbridge taking Business Administration and Accounting Courses. He started his career with The Bank of Nova Scotia, then Woolworth Lethbridge and in 1974 he found his final career with Super Value Calgary.  In 1989 he met Rena, and they were married in October 2004.  They moved to Lacombe in 1999 to semi-retire and Rena passed away in 2012.  In 2015 Stan moved to Red Deer and this same year he was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer.  In 2016 he was lucky enough to find love again after meeting Angie and they were married in 2019.

Stan like camping, keeping his garden and yard beautiful.  He liked classic cars, music especially classic rock & country and enjoyed entertaining visitors with good food and drink.

A Prayer Service will be held at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, Alberta on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe, Alberta.

A big thank you to the Nurses and Doctors at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their care of Stan in his final days of life.
