1926 – 2023

On Sunday, August 13, 2023, we lost our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Oma and soon to be great-great Oma, Suzanna “Ann” van Nieuwkerk at the age of 97 years.

Ann leaves to mourn her daughter, Ina (Don) Hutchinson, sons, Dick (Denise) van Nieuwkerk, Adrian (Rhonda) van Nieuwkerk and John (Lorraine) van Nieuwkerk; her grandchildren, Chris (Kathleen), Mike (Nicole), Amy (Dan), Brent (Michelle), Steven (Laura), Dennis (Jessica), Bradley (Bettina), Amanda (Richard), Jaime (Andrew), Christina, Jeffrey and Sarah.  She also leaves 20 great grandchildren and very soon one great-great grandchild.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 65 years, Leendert (Lane Sr.) and her son Leendert (Lane Jr.), as well as her parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother (in childhood).

Ann was born in Naaldwijk, Holland on August 1, 1926, and emigrated to Canada with her husband in 1949.  She stood hand in hand with her husband in building their dairy farm while also raising the family.

She loved her crafts, and every family member always received a tea towel and dishcloth at Christmas.  She also loved her ‘Word Search’ puzzles, Jig Saw puzzles and her Bingo.  A trip to the casino was also never turned down!

A Family Graveside Service will be held at the Mirror Cemetery, Mirror, Alberta on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Family and Friends Gathering at the Mirror Jolly Senior’s Centre, 5119 – 50th Avenue, Mirror Alberta.
