Theodore 'Ted' Lembicz Obituary

Surrounded by family, our family patriarch and friend drew his final breath on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Lacombe Hospital.  Ted was now free of the pain and suffering he had endured this past year.

Theodore ‘Ted’ Henry Lembicz was born on April 21, 1938 in Lacombe, Alberta.  He was the first born of Ted and Dorothy Lembicz.  Ted spent the first 12 years on the family farm where he attended Eureka Valley school.  He had fond memories of his life on the farm and considered returning as an adult.

In 1950 the family moved into Lacombe.  Here, Ted showed his leadership and athletic skills.  In high school, he became a prominent member of the student council.  His graduating class was a tight knit group.  They regularly held reunions to get together and reminisce.  At the same time Ted participated in different sports - hockey, basketball, golf, and football.  He was good enough at football to be invited to an Edmonton Eskimo training camp.

Ted was an outdoorsman.  Throughout his life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.  As Todd was growing, they enjoyed quadding and snowmobiling together.  Ted loved his “toys”.  He was a traveler, taking his motorhome camping and on trips to “cowboy poetry” retreats.

Ted had a few different jobs over the years.  After high school he worked on a seismic crew and became a truck driver.  He left these to become an orderly at the provincial hospital in Ponoka.  While there, he was given the opportunity to train as a psych nurse.  During his training he met Corrine, his future wife, who just happened to be one of his instructors.  From being a nurse, he became a social worker.  His first position was in Barrhead.  He was soon promoted supervisor in Whitecourt and Red Deer where he retired in 1995.

Wherever he lived, Ted became an active member of the community.  During his time in Ponoka, he had a term as president of the golf club.  In Barrhead and Whitecourt he was an active Kinsman. Until his passing he was a proud and active Mason.

Ted was predeceased by Corrine, his wife of 57 years, his parents Ted and Dorothy, brothers Garry and Jim, sister-in-law LaVerne.  He is lovingly remembered by his son, Todd (Cheryl Caron); his grandchildren, Thoren and Conlen, and their mother, Chantelle; Ashley Windle (Brendan) and Vanessa Pfau (Ian), and their children, Bennett, Kason, Charlie, and Ivy; his siblings, Ron, Marie (Fred), Sharon (John), Brian (Frieda), and Betty (Charlie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Ted’s Life will be held at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel (6120 Hwy 2A, Lacombe) on Friday, February 27th, 2026 at 11:30 a.m., with a time of fellowship to follow at the Lacombe Legion.
