Vern Johnson Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of Vern Ervin Shane Johnson announce his passing after a long and courageous battle with cancer on February 7th, 2025 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 60.

Shane is survived by his children: Crysta, Melody, Shanea (Jason), Owen and Cameron Johnson; his grandchildren: Emilia, Carter and Calian Johnson, Laneya and Emberley Ermineskin as well as his siblings Delia Reitsma (Dan), Tina Bale (Bill) and Sheila Fowler and many nephews and nieces and extended family.

Shane was born in Red Deer Alberta and spent his younger years living and working in the Caroline area in the oil and gas industry.  After getting married, he lived in several parts of Central Alberta before moving to Merrit, BC where he spent the next 20 years working as a ranch hand as well as working at the homeless shelter.  Shane loved hunting, fishing and camping and talking about theology.

Funeral services will be held at the Redeemer United Reformed Church in Lacombe on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 1:00pm with a graveside at the Woodynook Church cemetery.
