Vernon Norman Wiberg

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected sudden passing of Vernon Wiberg of Lacombe, Alberta, on December 21, 2025, at the age of 56.

Vernon was born in Calgary, Alberta, and at the age of seven was adopted by Les & Janiece Wiberg. He was raised in central Alberta, where he built lifelong roots and relationships.

Vernon was a courageous, kind, and gentle man who was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He cherished his family and friends wholeheartedly. A dedicated member of the oil patch since the age of 18, Vernon became well known and highly respected within the oil industry.

Vern’s greatest passion was his family. Nothing brought him more joy than firing up the grill, whether it was a perfectly cooked steak or a pile of burgers, and feeding his family until they were busting at the seams. He loved the simple pleasures of life: fishing, camping, side x siding, riding miles on his e-bike, or sitting around a campfire with his wife and kids. Those campfire nights were often filled with laughter and stories, especially his legendary tale of Johnny’s Liver.

Above all else, Vernon was a devoted husband, father, papa, son, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; his daughter Carley (and grandson Turner); his stepson Charles (and grandchildren Kowyn and Lylah); and their 3 children Ryley (Bianca), Austyn (Emma), and Kayla (Jax), along with numerous extended family members and an abundance of friends.

Vernon was an incredible role model to his children and to many others. His kindness, support, gentleness, and understanding were truly extraordinary. The bond he shared with his children was unlike any other. His memory will be forever cherished, and the lessons he shared will never be forgotten.

In keeping with Vernon’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Those who loved him will be invited to come together to remember and honor his life.
